Is your party endorsing or supporting candidates or groups of candidates for the local council elections?
There are things the party should know about nominating candidates for the election and other election processes including that candidates and groups of candidates must be registered for the local council elections and must appoint an official agent before:
- accepting political donations, or
- making payments for electoral expenditure.
There are strict rules about political donations and electoral expenditure and how a party manages and discloses its election campaign finances.
New laws now apply to local council elections including capping political donations and holding a separate campaign account. You need to fully understand your obligations. Find out more information about donations caps or campaign accounts.
